Sunday, January 4, 2015 – It might have been a wet and chilly day but the weather didn’t damper the spirits of the volunteers at the Mount Pleasant BIA’s 6th Annual Tree Chipping for the Kids fundraiser at Kingsgate Mall. Aimed at raising funds for Mount Pleasant Elementary‘s new community playground, the event also offered local residents an environmentally friendly way of disposing of their Christmas trees.

This year we chipped 226 trees and raised $1900 for the kids of Mount Pleasant!!!

Mount Pleasant Elementary School‘s Parent Advisory Committee were there helping haul trees and collecting donations as Risa and Jim from the Collingwood Community Police helped direct traffic and keep the mall parking lot clear. The Mount Pleasant BIA was serving steaming cups of hot chocolate and chocolate cookies to donors and volunteers.

Of course this event wouldn’t happen without the ongoing support of the team at Arbutus Tree Services. For the last 6 years, Norm and his team have volunteered their time and equipment to help us raise money for a variety of community initiatives and we are so grateful. A HUGE thanks to everyone that brought their trees to be chipped and generously donated, we hope to see you again new year!
