The Mount Pleasant BIA is excited to be teaming up with Book Warehouse Main St and James Avramenko from the Friendless Podcast to present Author Talks in our outdoor 27th & Main Plaza. This event will be an evening of meaningful conversation, shared with an amazing panel and with each other!
The Book Warehouse Main St is a community bookstore where people come for an experience of literary magnitude. From checking out their many recommendations to attending a book launch, the Book Warehouse is the go to spot for all things books on Main St.
James Avramenko is the host of the Friendless Podcast. A podcast that focuses on exploring connection, intimacy, and self-compassion through honest conversations and practical insights. Listeners are invited to pay attention to themselves and the world around them.

Linh Truong- Owner of The Soap Dispensary and Kitchen Staples
Opened in 2011, The Soap Dispensary is Vancouver’s first dedicated refill shop. They specialize in premium bulk soaps, cleaners, hygiene and beauty products as well as the DIY ingredients to make all of these essentials at home.

Lisa Brideau– Author ‘Adrift’
Lisa is an award-winning author born and raised in Nova Scotia, Canada in the unceded territory of the Mi’kmaw People. She has a Bachelor degree in Aerospace Engineering from Carleton University and a Master of Science in Urban Planning from the University of British Columbia. She currently works as a sustainability specialist focused on climate policy and climate justice and additionally explores possible pathways for societal change due to climate change in her fiction. She lives in Vancouver, BC (the unceded territory of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh peoples). ADRIFT is Lisa’s debut novel. Her writing has been generously supported by Canada Council for the Arts, Bread Loaf, Monson Arts, and Banff Centre for the Creative Arts.

Vince Beiser is an award-winning journalist and author. He has reported from over 100 countries, states, provinces, kingdoms, occupied territories, no man’s lands and disaster zones. Vince has exposed conditions in California’s harshest prisons, trained with US Army soldiers, ridden with the first responders to natural disasters, and hunted down other stories from around the world for publications including Wired, The Atlantic, The Guardian, Mother Jones, Rolling Stone, The Economist, The Los Angeles Times, The Wall Street Journal, and The New York Times. His latest book, “Power Metal: The Race for the Resources That Will Shape the Future” is an investigation into how the materials we need for digital technology and renewable energy are causing environmental havoc, political upheaval, mayhem and murder—and how we can do better.
