Vancouver’s comedy and zine fest is here again!
Unibrow Arts Festival is a multi-day festival fusing the diverse talent of the local comedy scene and art publishing community. The event unites these communities in the spirit of diversity, experimentation and collaboration. Local talent will shake things up across an array of venues up and down Main Street, with comedy, zine markets, exhibitions, interactive caricature drawing, brunch, dance parties, a limited-edition festival zine, and more. The second iteration of Unibrow will take place from Thursday, August 22 to Monday, August 26, 2019 in venues up and down Main Street in the Mount Pleasant neighbourhood.
This year’s program features fantastic venues and arts hubs, exciting performances by local comedians, an outdoor zine market, exhibitions, artist talks, workshops and a tattoo flash day, all in the neighbourhood. The goal of this festival is to establish a platform for local comedians and art publishers (zinesters, small press publishers and artists) to collaborate and create many fantastic artworks. Attendees will enjoy multiple experimental programming from live shows, musical collaborations, exhibitions, and networking opportunities.
During its first year, Unibrow produced 11 live shows, which featured over 45 comedians with 4 musical acts, as well as a Zine Market and Zine Shop which displayed the works of over 30 small press publishers and artists.
Unibrow was created in 2018 by festival directors Lisa Curry (Vancouver Art Book Fair) and Cameron MacLeod (JFL NorthWest, Vancouver Just For Laughs Film festival, Vancouver Comedy Awards nominee best producer).
