A new mural has found its home in Mount Pleasant!
Located in the Dynasty Fashion Laneway, beside Scout Boutique and behind 8th & Main.
Neighbouring businesses have expressed real excitement about large scale mural currently being created by artist Ilya Viryachev in the laneway, south-west of 8th and Main. The City, as an anti-graffiti initiative, is heavily subsidizing the cost of this mural and supplying the paint, permits and anti-graffiti coating. Thanks go to Shery Convenience, Our Community Bikes and Dynasty Fashion for supplying the artist storage space and power.
Murals have been popping up all over Mount Pleasant and Main Street in efforts to foster neighbourhood engagement with public art and create a strong sense of community in the area. Mount Pleasant Business Improvement Area (MPBIA), the City of Vancouver, and Vancouver Mural Festival have been collaborating in spirit of community art initiatives, so expect more to come!
