Main Street Car Free Day 2013: The Mount Pleasant Community Festival Returns!

This Father’s Day, Sunday, June 16, 2013, thousands of families spent time together with the Mount Pleasant community at Main Street Car Free Day 2013.

Main Street Car Free Day 2013 brought 1,000’s to one of Vancouver’s best summer street Festival events. As one of Vancouver’s most anticipated, largest street festivals, this year’s Car Free Day was even bigger! Main Street from Broadway to E. 30th Ave. was jam packed with local artisans, great food from delectable restaurants, FREE goodies (like popcorn and cotton candy at Main and East 15th Ave.), entertainment zones, excellent local shopping and more! All family fun for FREE.

There was something in store for everyone! As well as great deals provided by the various businesses around the area, especially by Mount Pleasant BIA members.

“We are so happy with the way the Main Street Car Free Day Festival is shaping up this year and so thankful to all of the partners we have helping us deliver this year’s Festival. We [the Car Free Day Society] are an entirely volunteer run, non-profit organization; our small vendor fees and the donations people make have a huge impact on the vitality of this Festival. For me, some of the most rewarding elements of volunteering for Car Free Day is providing space for local artists to gain exposure, celebrating our vibrant Main Street community, and working with the individual volunteers and stakeholders. It is astonishing to see what a neighbourhood can accomplish with community vision and partners like the Mount Pleasant Business Improvement Area. Every year I am humbled by the talent Vancouver has to offer and by the growing success of Vancouver Car Free Days – we look forward to it again this year!” –  Matthew Carrico, Festival Coordinator

This Vancouver summer festival is 100% powered by volunteers who welcome tens of 1,000’s of people to Main St. during Car Free Day, always with smiles and helping hands. Special thanks to all the volunteers and coordinators who made Main Street Car Free Day 2013 possible!
