Saturday, June 7th the Mount Pleasant Elementary School welcomed their neighbourhood to Celebrate Mount Pleasant Day 2014

Celebrate Mount Pleasant Day 2014 saw students, faculty, and families join their community to raise funds for a new playground. The Mount Pleasant community and local families came together to celebrate one of Vancouver’s BEST neighbourhoods: Mount Pleasant! The school,  located on the east side of  Dude Chilling Park (2300 Guelph St.) was packed with tons of activities, entertainment and a BBQ.

Local DJs and live musicians performed through out the day and Mount Pleasant Elementary Acceptance dancers gave an inspiring performance of their flash mop routine to the Bruno Mars hit song “Just the way you are.”

The Mount Pleasant BIA was there to support the community’s efforts with the Fish Pond booth manned by the MPBIA  summer term UBC interns. Despite the heat everyone had a fantastic time interacting with the kids and the Fishing Ponds and the bubble machine in particular was a huge hit.

We love our neighbourhood and are looking forward to next year’s Celebrate Mount Pleasant Day and enjoying the new playground scheduled for 2015.
