Vancouver Mural Festival 2017
Vancouver Mural Festival is the city’s largest annual free public art celebration.
Through the creation of permanent large scale public murals, the MPBIA partners with the Create Vancouver Society to showcase Vancouver`s vibrant young art scene and encourage the public to explore their creative side.
Close to 100,000 people are expected to join us to celebrate the creation of more than 5O new large scale murals in East Vancouver. Our events and public art installations serve as catalysts for addressing a variety of cultural issues facing our city and artistic communities as well as highlighting local cultures and histories. These include but are not limited to public art policy, community building, environmental policy, reconciliation, highlighting Coast Salish history and culture, artistic censorship, diversity, cost of living, and the need for culturally sustainable development practices.
This year the Vancouver Mural Festival (VMF) will be held on Saturday, August 12 from noon until 6pm. The festival will take over Main Street from 12th Ave to 7th Ave, the lanes west of Main from 11th to 3rd Ave.
