Countdown to Mural Fest 2018 – It’s almost here!

It’s Mural Time!

As July comes to a close summer meanders into its second half, seeming like there’s little left to look forward to. But this isn’t the case. The weather is holding, the people are lively, and the best is yet to come. That’s right, in one week it’s the real highlight of the summer, because Vancouver Mural Fest is coming!

For those who don’t know, Vancouver Mural Festival is a yearly festival dedicated to street art and artists.  To anyone who has walked up and down Main Street before, it’s hard to miss the amazing murals that pepper the buildings. Those murals are the result of hundreds of hours of hard work in the two previous years, culminating in past festivals.

This year will be no different, with artists coming to Mount Pleasant to show their creativity. But that’s not all the Festival has to offer. On August 11th Main Street will be closed to traffic, to make way for food vendors, businesses, and performances. And that’s not even including the beer tents. Vendors and businesses from Vancouver will gather to support and showcase their crafts and the artists. The festival stretches from 12th till 2nd, and will take up space on both sides of Main at various places, and in laneways west of Main and south of Broadway. There’s also a concert starting at 6pm in John Rogers Park.

It’s not an event to miss, so if you’ve got nothing to do on August 11th, come on out! And if you do have plans, cancel them, and come out anyways! For more information visit Vancouver Mural Fest’s site.
